This type of leisure facility is not suitable for Cosmeston Country Park. I have seen such facility in action and it is simply incompatible with a country park where people go to recharge and to enjoy nature. Cosmeston lakes are important for a wide variety of birds and the increase in noise and the use of the water would cause disturbance. Having a permanent structure in the water would be an eyesore when it is not used in the winter. It is likely that car parking also has to be extended for the increase in visitors which would sacrifice more green space.
Our country parks should be for enjoying the feeling of getting away from the urban environment and not become a place for theme park types of activity.
A much more suitable place for this type of activity would be Barry Docks, where an increase in visitors and family members who do not participate in wakeboarding, could also add to the footfall for local shops and businesses on Barry Island.
