The historic Golden Stairs and Cliff Wood are a Site of Special Scientific Interest with important and unusual plants, adders and bats, both of which are protected. It is a beautiful part of Barry - a Garden Suburb set within a conservation area, next to Porthkerry Country Park on the Wales Coast Path with beautiful views across the Bristol Channel. It is an extremely peaceful popular with walkers who enjoy the quiet sounds of nature. There are plenty of urbanised areas where this development could be built. Why they feel the need to build it in beautiful parkland is unfathomable. We have recently asked the Council to provide a set of swings in this area for the local children. This was refused because a handful of people protested. How can they then consider approving this industrial development with so much local opposition? Where are our priorities if a mobile phone signal is given more importance than protecting what beautiful green spaces we have.
