Maintaining good health, both in body and mind at my age requires gentle physical exercise, including walking and stretching as well as the mental exercise of playing a sport like bowls, which requires concentration and strategic planning. Social contact with others is of course equally essential. I bowl at Sully sports and social club twice a week. I travel across by car with other players from Llantwit Major. I play against opponents of all ages from teenagers to those in their nineties. I have played against those who are registered blind, confined to wheelchairs and with a range of other difficulties. When I play almost every rink is occupied. Afterwards we go into the bar for invaluable social time. This is an excellent facility which needs upgrading. Its loss would have a significant detrimental affect on as many as a thousand bowls players across the Vale. As a result I fully support this applic
